Farmers & LIFE Teams up to Educate CTAHR Students

Frank and Lynn Sekiya of Frankie's Nursery helped educate CTAHR's future agricultural leaders
Hands on demonstration of grafting techniques used at the Nursery
Sample of Jackfruit
Example of just one of the many exotic fruits on the property
Through the field tour and hands on demonstration, students learned about the fruit crop nursery business, the Sekiya's travels and their passion for exotic fruit crops.
Clyde Fukuyama of Matsuda Fukuyama explains the culture of eggplant to students in TPSS 364
Students get to see first hand how papayas are grown for the local market.
Clyde did an excellent job educating students about the opportunties and challenges that come with running a successful agriculture business in Hawaii
Chatted with Kylie Matsuda Lum (4th generation farmer) about the agrotourism side of agriculture. Enjoyed a local treat on the new cafe deck, local papaya ala mode
Students were treated to a walking and tractor tour of the Matsuda Fukuyama / Kahuku Brand property.

Special thanks to Frankie's Nursery and Matsuda Fukuyama for taking time away from your busy workday to educate CTAHR students about your farming business, practices and challenges.
